Matthew Maschino was appointed as a career agent for the Missouri Farm Bureau in Greene County. Maschino, who works in the Farm Bureau’s East Kearney office, completed training emphasizing life, accident/health, and property and casualty insurance.

Architecture

Butler, Rosenbury & Partners made six personnel moves. Jay Mihalevich and Tom Schmitt were both hired as CAD technicians while Shawn Batty was named a structural CAD technician. Angie Green joined the firm as an interior designer. Jana Letterman is the company’s new business development director, and Emily Aderhold was added as staff receptionist.

Education

Ty Patterson, vice president of student development at Ozarks Technical Community College, was appointed to serve as one of 18 members of the Community and Two-Year College Advisory Board for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

The advisory board provides input to the NASPA Board of Directors about professional development, research, publications, student success and developing association alliances of community college student services professionals.

Four Drury University communication students presented a research paper at the 2006 Central States Communication Conference in Indianapolis. Sarah Duvall, Amanda Hornick, Brittany Beggs and Reneta Kenelova were the authors of “Don’t Let BP Fuel You: Strategies Used in the BP On the Street Campaign to Reduce Cognitive Dissonance.”

Cynthia Pemberton, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Missouri State University, was named an American Council on Education Fellow for the 2006-2007 academic year. She is one of 38 fellows selected nationally.

College of the Ozarks was named one of America’s Best Value Colleges in The Princeton Review’s 2007 list. The publication selects 150 schools each year that offer excellent academics, generous financial aid packages and relatively low costs.

Health Care

Dr. Hugh Harris rejoined Orthopaedic Specialists of Springfield PC after two years on active military duty. OSS also announced that Dr. Michael Grillot passed his board recertification for surgery of the hand.

CoxHealth’s Stroke Center earned Primary Stroke Center certification from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The commission conducted an on-site review of the facility in February.

Publishing

Gary Whitaker, owner and publisher of Whitaker Publishing, was elected president of the Missouri Association of Publications. MAP promotes excellence in publishing and serves as a professional organization for individuals, corporations, industry associates and journalism faculty and students. Whitaker will serve a two-year term.

Whitaker also was named to the Folio 40, an annual listing of 40 people who have had a significant impact on their own products and in the magazine industry.[[In-content Ad]]
