Boys & Girls Town of Missouri named Brad Gebhard, Catherine Moore, Steve Moore and John Wilson to its regional board of trustees for the southwest region. Additionally, James F. Moore of American Products LLC was elected to the statewide organization’s board of directors.
Construction
Scott Bailes joined Regional Ready Mix as executive vice president for sales and marketing. As part of the management team, Bailes is responsible for growing the company’s commercial and residential business. He has six years of experience in the concrete industry, most recently as a residential salesman for Conco Cos.
Education
The College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout presented more than 120 awards to students at its 98th Annual Awards Night on April 27th. More than $70,000 was awarded to more than 200 students. Awards ranged from room and board scholarships to the Golden Rule Honor Award.
The Students in Free Enterprise teams of Drury and Evangel universities took first and second places, respectively, in the 2006 National Duel in the Desert personal finance case study competition in Tucson, Ariz. The competition featured 24 teams from schools around the country, who had to research a hypothetical case study and within 36 hours design a workable and creative solution to the issue.
Government
Gov. Matt Blunt appointed two local residents to state councils and commissions. Lebanon Fire Department Chief Sam H. Schneider is on the State Advisory Council on Emergency Medical Services. Barbara K. Tiedt of Springfield is on the State Lottery Commission.
Health Care
Vickie Greenwood, residency administrator at the Cox Family Medicine Residency, was named president of the Association of Family Medicine Administration, a professional organization dedicated to the growth and development of family medicine residency programs. Greenwood, with Cox Family Medicine Residency since 1994, will serve a one-year term.
Several members of the staff of Mid-America Hearing Center in Mount Vernon received awards at the 2006 Missouri Hearing Society Educational Conference in St. Louis. Company President Scott George received a Platinum Award for outstanding educational achievement, and staff members Glenda Gillaspy, Sheila Shelton and Troy Adrian received Silver Awards for outstanding educational achievement.
Hospitality
Bethany Martorana was named general manager of Krystal Aire Inn and Suites in Springfield. Martorana has been in the hospitality business with John Q. Hammons Hotels for seven years, most recently with the Marriott hotel in Overland Park, Kan. She graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management.
Insurance
Several members of the staff of Beimdiek Insurance in Carthage completed professional training. Bonnie Powers was awarded the Certified Insurance Counselor designation by the National Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives. Medina Sarratt and Jennifer Little completed the Certified Insurance Service Representative course on insuring personal residential property. Lorie Downing completed the Annual Continuing Education Requirement of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors in Springfield.
