Kirkpatrick, Phillips & Miller, CPAs, PC added six accountants to its staff. Erin Norris, Tom Weber, Robert Barratt, Dominic DeLuca and Amy Jackson are staff accountants, assisting with general tax, audit and accounting engagements. Kristi Wilkins, a certified public accountant, was hired as a senior accountant. Wilkins works with small-business clients on financial reporting, payroll, taxes and software support.

Lisa’s Bookkeeping and Office Services promoted Terrie Johnson to medical billing specialist and hired Heather Mahan as a bookkeeper. Johnson leads a new psychology services department.

Banking

Metropolitan National Bank hired John Maupin as vice president of commercial lending. A Jefferson City native, Maupin has more than 10 years of experience in Springfield banking and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri. Before joining Metropolitan, Maupin was a vice president with the Springfield branch of Wood & Huston Bank.

Guaranty Bank added H. Michael Mattson as executive vice president and chief lending officer. Mattson has 27 years of loan experience, including 19 years in the Springfield market.

Community

Community Foundation of the Ozarks added David Pointer and Mel Saunders to its board. Pointer, a Missouri State University graduate who lives in Gainesville, practices law with Pointer Law Office in Gainesville and Mountain Grove. Mel Saunders, also an MSU graduate, is a financial consultant with A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in St. Louis. They replace outgoing board members Julie Brown and Susie Henry.

Family Violence Center installed four new board members. Laura Johnson, a private client manager with Bank of America, serves on the fund-raising committee. Kristy McDonald, an account manager/copywriter/producer with Schilling, Sellmeyer & Associates, is chair of the center’s public relations and marketing committee. Teri Pearman, legal administrator with Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin, serves on the center’s board development committee. Board member Barbra Wallace serves as vice president of commercial lending at Empire Bank.

Ozarks Regional YMCA elected Deb Scott of Wilhoit Properties as its 2007–2008 board president. It also added Bart Evans, vice president at Metropolitan National Bank, and Mike Treadwell, president and CEO of Treadwell Enterprises, to the board.

Education

Rod Oglesby, a Drury University business administration and economics professor, was chosen to serve on the editorial board of the Journal of International Business Disciplines. The journal, founded in April, publishes peer-reviewed scholarly research on current trends and issues in international business, including economics, globalization, diversity and leadership.

College of the Ozarks was one of 50 schools chosen by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute for its list of All-American Colleges: Top Schools for Conservatives, Old-Fashioned Liberals and People of Faith.

Drury professor Rabindra Roy was awarded a three-year, $132,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Roy is developing internationally consistent standards for the measurement of pH in complex solutions.

Missouri Retired Teachers Association named Ruby Crane its 2006 Distinguished Retiree of the Year. Crane retired as a vocational business and English instructor for the Crane R-III School District and is also chair of the Region 10 MRTA State Legislative Committee.

Electronics

Scott Stansbury of Electronic Video Systems recently earned his certified technology specialist credential. The designation is for audio-visual professionals who have demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of the science and technology used in audio, visual and display systems.

Government

Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt was chosen to serve on the National Governors Association Innovation America Task Force. The association, which is charged with increasing U.S. competitiveness in the global math and science fields, will study ways to promote innovation nationwide and work to create new math and science academies geared to improving student comprehension.

Health Care

Several members of the Skaggs Community Health Center Auxiliary in Branson were recognized for 4,000 hours or more of community service. They are: Betty Bergmann, Alice Drysdale, Harriet Edwards, Rosemary Ford, Clarann Harrison, Patsy Kenyon, Sarah Moulin, Peggy Short and Wilma Wiley.

Citizens Memorial Healthcare in Branson added general surgeon Dr. Wayne Wolf to its surgical services staff. Wolf received his doctorate of osteopathy from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City and performed residency at the Medical Center of Independence, where he was elected chief resident.

CoxHealth added Drury president John D. Sellars to its board of directors.

Sellars, who replaced Ralph Slavens who retired after 25 years on the Cox board, received his master’s degree and Ph.D. in public administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Human Resources

Haggerman & Associates hired Katherine Craft as a writer and editor. Craft, who received a Master of Arts in technical and professional writing from Missouri State University, works for Haggerman and the company’s two other divisions: Pinnacle Training & Development and Career Services Inc.
