Banking

Craig E. Dunn, senior vice president with Citizens National Bank, received a diploma from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The school, sponsored by the 18 state bankers associations, provides bankers an opportunity for advanced study and research in banking, economics and leadership.

Dan Katzfey joined Mountain Grove-based First Home Savings Bank as executive vice president and chief lending officer. Katzfey has more than 25 years of financial institution and lending experience, including regulatory experience as a bank examiner. He also has a degree in finance from Missouri State University.

Community

The Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association presented Fred May with the Distinguished Achievement in Planning Award. May has served the city of Springfield as director of planning and development and as a recovery manager for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the city of Stockton. He also serves as a consultant on Jordan Valley Park.

Construction

Gloria Roling is the new business development manager for Walton Construction. Roling previously served as program coordinator for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. She was also one of Springfield Business Journal’s Twenty Most Influential Women in 2005.

Springfield Contractors Association elected its new officers for 2007. They are: Jim Carson of Carson-Mitchell Inc., president; Danny Edwards of Connelly Plumbing Co., vice-president; Joe Tucker of Tucker & Co. PC, treasurer; Mike DeLong of City Utilities’ TecHouse, secretary; Bill Nesbitt of Nesbitt Construction Inc., past president; and Don Jones of Hulston, Jones & Marsh, general counsel.

Several new members also were elected to SCA’s Board of Directors. New members are: David Foreman of APAC Missouri Inc.’s Springfield branch; Jeffrey Fielder of Springfield Engineering Co.; Johnny Melton of Melton Electric; Gary Yost of Barker-Phillips-Jackson Inc.; and Ryan Zweerink of Ozark Laser Systems Inc.

Re-elected board members who will continue to serve in 2007 are: Bill Adams of Conco Quarries Inc.; Steve Baer of Hertz Equipment Rental; Brent Beattie of Wildcat Materials Inc.; Mel Brooks of Brooks Plastering Inc.; King Coltrin of Great River Engineering Inc.; Cliff Kennedy of Kennedy Contractors Inc.; and Dave Robertson of Prestressed Casting Co.

Customer Service

Michael Replogle joined JPMorgan Chase as the center manager for the Springfield card services center. He also serves as site leader for the inbound-service and service-to-sales teams. Replogle was formerly with 1800flowers.com, where he was responsible for call centers and sales operations in Oklahoma and Ohio.

Education

Two Evangel graduates received awards at the school’s homecoming ceremony Oct. 13.

Dr. Marc McCorcle, a 1973 Evangel graduate, received the Alumni Association President’s Award. McCorcle has been a partner with Primrose OB/GYN for 15 years, and in June 1991, he performed the first laparoscopic-assisted hysterectomy in the four-state area.

Don Triplett, a 1974 graduate, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Triplett is the founder and executive director of King’s Castle Compassion Ministries, a Christian outreach and relief agency that includes 29 countries in Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

Ali Traub, a 1996 graduate, received the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. Traub has taught Spanish for eight years at Central High School and was named National Spanish Teacher of the Year in 2005 by the National Education Association.

R. Stan Norman is the new vice president for development at Southwest Baptist University, effective January 2007. Norman served on the faculties of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Charleston Southern University and The Criswell College. He has also ministered to Southern Baptist churches for more than two decades.

Environment

Table Rock Lake Water Quality Inc. added two members to its staff. Gopala Borchelt is the new projects director. She is finishing her master’s degree in geospatial science from Missouri State University, with emphasis on water quality monitoring and environmental application of geographic information systems. Valerie Lee is the new education director. She received her Bachelor of Science in conservation and wildlife management from Missouri Western State University and has worked with the Missouri Department of Conservation Volunteer Naturalist Program.

Finance

Springfield Trust Co. added four individuals to its new Advisory Board of Directors. Randy Bachus is national accounts manager for SMC Packaging Group and also serves on the board of directors of Twin Oaks Country Club. Brian Gelner is vice president of operations for locally owned Premium Beverage Sales. Steve Rice is an optometrist and partner in The Vision Clinic and Nixa Vision Clinic. Bill Squires is vice president of SMC Electric Supply and board president for Springfield Ballet.

Health Care

Paul Wannenmacher received the 2006 Dr. William O. Barnett Harbinger Award from the Quality Life Association. The award is given annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the association. Wannenmacher, owner of Wannenmacher Advertising Co, was honored for his volunteer work.

Forest Institute of Professional Psychology received a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide education to promote healthy families. The goal of the grant is to implement long-term activities that encourage and support healthy families in a 29-county area of southwest Missouri.

Hospitality

John Q. Hammons received the 2006 Kemmons Wilson Service Award from IAHI, the Owners’ Association of InterContinental Hotels Group. The association gives the award annually to a hospitality leader who serves the community and embodies the standards and beliefs set forward by Kemmons Wilson, creator of the Holiday Inn brand of hotels. Hammons’ company owns 12 Holiday Inn properties.

Insurance

C. Adam Smith joined Empire Bank Insurance Agency as account executive specializing in commercial property and casualty benefits. Smith has a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University, where he majored in history and minored in music education.

Sales

Springfield-based Dark Ops Knives promoted two of its employees. Matt Leonard was promoted from law enforcement and military sales associate to national sales manager of the company’s law enforcement and military division. Julie Miller was promoted from commercial sales associate to national sales manager of the company’s commercial and sporting division.

Training

Gail Jackson completed training for and received her Certified Pet Dog Trainer certification from the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers. The certification process includes 300 hours of experience in dog training and a written test covering dog behavior and application of training techniques.

Utilities

Chris Hamon, general manager of White River Valley Electric Cooperative in Branson, was appointed to the executive, and training and development committees for the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives. Hamon will be responsible for activities related to improving the professional and technical abilities of electric cooperative employees and directors, including workshops and conferences.
