Paul Seale’s Web development firm Alien Media received an honorable mention Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants. Alien Media received the award for its work on former state Rep. Mark Wright’s Web site during his bid for Missouri auditor. The Pollie Awards are devoted solely to political and public affairs consultants.
Community
Greene County received a $75,121 grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The grant will be used to fund the fourth phase of the Ward Branch Floodway preservation, restoration and enhancement project, which included the buyout of 11 homes in Shadowood subdivision in 2001.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks received a $4,280 grant from McKesson Corp. for its Mentoring Achieves Greatness in Children, or MAGIC, program.
The money will fund curriculum materials, equipment and incentives for healthy lifestyle choices.
Construction
Sam Bradley, owner of Sam Bradley Homes, completed a green-building certification course from the National Association of Home Builders. The course focused on incorporating green-building principles into homes without driving up construction costs.
Springfield Ready Mix Co. received a pervious concrete project award from the Missouri/Kansas Portland Cement Concrete Paving Conference for its work on the James River Linear Park Trail construction project.
James Carson of Carson-Mitchell Inc. was chosen as a director on the board of The Builders’ Association. The association represents more than 1,000 general contractor, subcontractor and supplier members in the commercial, industrial and municipal utility construction industries.
Health Care
Drs. Clyde Parsons and Paul Frewin joined Sun River Orthopaedics, a CoxHealth regional services clinic. Parsons completed his undergraduate education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. His postgraduate training includes fellowships in adult reconstructive surgery and total joint replacement. Frewin received his medical degree from University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery/sports medicine and adult reconstructive surgery/total joint replacement in Dallas.
Drs. Abed Itani and William Wester joined Ferrell-Duncan Clinic. Itani joined the clinic’s pulmonary group. Itani completed his undergraduate education at the American University of Beirut School of Arts and Sciences. He received his medical degree at the American University of Beirut Medical School and completed his residency at the Metropolitan Hospital-New York Medical College.
Wester joined the general orthopedic surgery group. Wester obtained his undergraduate education and medical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed his residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic. He also completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School.[[In-content Ad]]
