Wannenmacher Advertising Co. added two staff members. Eric Deal joined the arts and design team. Deal, a 2002 Drury University graphic design graduate, has worked with Students in Free Enterprise and other advertising firms, including Noble & Associates in Springfield and ER Marketing in Kansas City. Marcy Dorman joined the firm’s account services department. Dorman, a senior at Missouri State University majoring in public relations, spent the summer working as a student intern.

Community

Chris Tuckness, vice president of community development and special events for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, served as class adviser at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organization Management in Los Angeles. The institute is a weeklong nonprofit leadership-training program. Class advisers serve as on-site resources for participants.

Anne Luzecky-Harris joined Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks as development director. She has five years of experience in marketing, development and public relations in the nonprofit field. Her responsibilities include event management and development, volunteer recruitment and public relations activities.

Education

Southwest Baptist University professor Mel L. Steele was recognized as the 2007 Orien B. Hendrix Distinguished Teacher. Steele became an assistant professor of business administration at SBU in 1990. He received his bachelor’s degree at SBU in 1984 and earned his master’s in business administration from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., in 1986. Steele teaches mainly at SBU’s Mountain View campus.

Health Care

Dr. Ryan Snyder joined the orthopedic group at Ferrell-Duncan Clinic. Snyder attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City for his undergraduate and medical education. He completed an internship in preliminary surgery at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s in Chicago and an internship in internal medicine at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

St. John’s Clinic added eight physicians. Drs. Mark Stewart and Kyle John joined St. John’s Clinic-Psychiatry. Stewart received his medical education from the University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City. He completed a Psychiatry residency with the University of Kansas School of Medicine and was the chief resident in 2006 and 2007. John received his medical education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1993. He completed a general adult psychiatry residency in 1996 with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Drs. Robert Cooney and Daniel L. Stanton joined St. John’s Clinic-Imaging Specialists. Cooney graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received his medical education from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Stanton received his medical education from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 2001. He completed his radiology residency at Southern Illinois University-St. John’s Hospital and Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. Dr. Lavanya Tiriveedhi joined St. John’s Clinic-Cancer and Hematology. Tiriveedhi received her medical education from Gandhi Medical College in India in 1999. She completed an internal medicine residency with the Western Pennsylvania Hospital/Temple University School of Medicine in Pittsburgh in 2004. Dr. Jikerkhoun Simou joined St. John’s Clinic-Branson-Internal Medicine. Simou received his medical education from the University of Aleppo-Syria and completed an internal medicine residency with the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Mariam Eid joined St. John’s Clinic-Lebanon-Obstetrics/Gynecology. Eid received her medical education from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 1999. She completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency with the same institution in 2003 and recently finished a residency with Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va. Dr. Madhavi Averneni joined St. John’s Clinic-Internal Medicine-Smith Glynn Callaway. Averneni received her medical education from Siddhartha Medical College, NTR, University of Health Sciences in India. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

Hospitality

The Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake Ozark received the Gold Key Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine. The award is given based on criteria such as staff attitude, quality of guest services and food and beverage service.

Insurance

Bud Page of Financial Solutions received the Certified in Long-Term Care designation. The program is independent of the insurance industry and focuses on providing insurance professionals the tools they need to meet their clients’ long-term care needs.

PJC Insurance promoted Janet Nothnagel to executive agency coordinator. Nothnagel, a 22-year veteran of the firm, is responsible for the coordination of sales, marketing, property management and Medicare supplements. She is a graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in finance and general business and a minor in insurance.

Bob Meek of PJC Insurance’s commercial lines division attended the Missouri Association of Insurance Agents Leadership Conference in Osage Beach. The conference was designed for owners, managers and producers of independent insurance agencies and brokerages in Missouri. The conference features educational sessions focused on commercial and personal lines, best practices, and commercial general liability changes.

Andrea Croley, co-owner of Springfield-based Croley Insurance and Financial, attended America’s Health Insurance Plans 2007 Institute in Las Vegas. AHIP is the largest national health care conference and provides business and health care professionals with the most recent issues and trends in the health industry.

Media

Ozarks Farm & Neighbor received the James R. Flanagan Award for most improved publication of the year at the Agriculture Media Summit on July 31. Ozark Farm & Neighbor is distributed in 22 counties throughout southwest Missouri.

Nonprofit

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri received two awards from two separate foundations. Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation awarded CASA a $5,000 grant to provide training to volunteers. The National CASA Association in Seattle awarded $22,000. CASA of Southwest Missouri uses community volunteers to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children in Greene County’s foster care system.

Bret McGowne, manager of Wood Re New & Tile Too, attended a summer conference for continuing education in exterior wood maintenance. Wood Re New provides cleaning and protecting services for exterior wood.

Real Estate

Gregg Stancer Realty promoted Kyle Estes to transaction coordinator for Springfield. He also is responsible for working with the company’s local and national clients in both brokerage and development.

Retail

Teters Floral Products received a First Place Award for Decorative Accessories in the 2007 Supplier Performance Awards by Retail Category. The 2007 SPARC awards will be presented at a banquet in Chicago at the Intercontinental Hotel on Sept. 20. Bolivar-based Teter Floral Products, established in 1957, assembles and distributes artificial flowers to retailers throughout the United States.[[In-content Ad]]
