Whitlock, Selim and Keehn LLP hired Krystal Russell as a senior staff accountant. Russell earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Missouri Southern State University in 2000 and a law degree from Creighton University in 2003.

Annette West joined Alzheimer’s Association of Southwest Missouri as development director. She previously served as executive administrator for Junior League of Springfield and has a graduate degree in business and marketing from Missouri State University. West will oversee fund development, planned giving, events and marketing.
The Mid-America chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society named the Springfield and Kansas City divisions of Walton Construction Co. LLC as Corporate Rookie Team of the Year at its annual Volunteer Recognition Awards Reception. Walton Construction is a national partner for the society’s Light the Night Walk and conducts fundraising efforts for the organization.
The Kiwanis Club of Downtown Springfield honored 14 members with 25 years or more of service. They are Mitch Fraley, Glenn Martin, Scott Kosky, John Nixon, Jackie Payne, Milt Chamberlin, Dave Fesperman, Ken Kraft, Bob Vienhage, Don Wessel, Ray Fugate, the Rev. Fred Beyer, Dave Fraley and Bus O’Neal.
The Kitchen’s Youth Outreach and Rare Breed Transitional Living Program was awarded $199,771 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program will serve about 75 at-risk youth at a two-story apartment building on the Kitchen’s campus. The apartments will provide services in education, parenting and life skills, and counseling for substance abuse, pregnant teens, job training and employment skills.

Evangel University professor emeritus Mark McLean and Carol Stair, executive assistant to Evangel University President Robert H. Spence, received the Evangel University Alumni Association 2007 Distinguished Service Award. McLean taught 25 years at Evangel before retiring due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He received a doctor of philosophy degree in Near Eastern languages and civilizations from Harvard University, and he has published nearly 30 articles nationally. Stair started as music department secretary in 1976 and moved to the president’ office in 1981. She coordinates all functions of the president’s office.

Citi Smith Barney added financial advisers Eric Atkinson, Ryan Groose and Kathy Richter to its Springfield staff. Atkinson joined the firm as vice president of wealth management. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and has been in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. Groose has a bachelor’s degree from College of the Ozarks and has earned the Accredited Account Management Specialist designation from the College for Financial Planning.
