Travis Willson of Jack Ball Architects PC received his architecture license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration. Willson earned his bachelor's degree in architecture from Drury University in 2002.
Jana Barnes was hired as office assistant at Jack Ball Architects. Barnes graduated from Harding University with a degree in elementary education.

Springfield Symphony received a $3,500 grant from national retailer Target to help fund the symphony's 39th season of Young People's concerts and the newly created Ensembles In Schools program.
Education
Marilyn Campbell, administrative assistant in Evangel University's business and economics department, and Woodvall Moore, the university director of library and media services, received the Distinguished Service Award from the university. Campbell joined the university in 1976 as communication department secretary and held that job until 1981, when she moved to the business and economics department. Moore started as reference librarian in 1976 and was promoted to library director the following year.
The Evangel Alumni Association presented its President's Award to Merwin Pickney, minister of administration at Woodlake Assembly of God in Tulsa, Okla. Pickney attended Evangel for nearly three years before graduating with a degree in economics from Arkansas State University in 1968. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Missouri State University in 1982. Pickney is past president of the National Association of Church Business Administrators.
Michael Wehrenberg received the Distinguished Young Alumnus Award from Drury University during its Golden Circle Awards luncheon. The award is given to a person under the age of 40 with a record of accomplishment. A 1999 Drury graduate and 2001 Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree, Wehrenberg founded Web site design and marketing firm Wehrenberg Design Co.
College of the Ozarks hired Fred Mullinax as executive vice president. Mullinax, dean of public affairs at the school from 1997-2001, acts on behalf of President Jerry C. Davis while Davis is traveling. Mullinax was most recently a higher education consultant in Lexington, Ky.
Jeff Morrissey, director of computer services for Missouri State University, received a $2.5 million U.S. Department of Education Title III grant to develop the school's Unified Digital Campus. Grant money will help fund improvements in Web-based applications; information security and disaster recovery; electronic business; life-cycle funding for core system hardware; and technical training and support services.
MSU geology, geography and planning professor Kevin Mickus received a $113,788 grant from Missouri University of Science and Technology. The grant will fund a three-year study of rock structures in Ethiopia. Mickus and colleagues will use seismology and gravity studies to look at the nature of rocks in the earth's crust.

Conrad Griggs joined The Bank of Missouri as community bank advisory director for Greene County. Griggs, a former Springfield City Council member, retired in 2005 as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch, where he had been employed since 1979.
