Eldon Cole, University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist in Mount Vernon, received the Research to Producer Award from the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute. The award is given annually to one extension specialist who best utilizes FAPRI-MU information.

Dake-Wells Architecture principal Andrew Wells presented at Pecha Kucha Night in Kansas City. The event is the kickoff for the annual Central States Regional Conference of the American Institute of Architects.
Hotel Contessa in San Antonio, Texas - a project designed by Butler, Rosenbury & Partners, ranked No. 12 nationwide on Condé Nast Traveler's list of "Top 100 Hotels." The hotel features 265 guest suites with parlor areas, flat screen TVs, oversized bathrooms and wireless Internet access.
Community
Jennifer Krejci was named coordinator of membership sales for Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Krejci's primary responsibility includes recruiting and retaining chamber members. She recently served as a national sales representative for Microtec Solutions and an account executive for Vision Media Group.
Education
Missouri State University established two endowed funds from donations by James F. and Mary Asher Tearney. The two funds, from donations celebrating the 50th anniversary of Mary Asher Tearney's graduation from the university, will be used for education or engineering scholarships and to purchase library materials.
Zac Rantz, communication coordinator for Nixa R-II School District, presented a workshop at the Missouri School Boards Association 2008 annual conference. His workshop, "Communication 101: Setting Up a Basic Communication Office," showcased how school districts can establish successful communication programs.
Government
Tim W. Francka, administrative director of long-term care for Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation, was appointed to the state Professional Services Payment Committee.
Francka has a bachelor's degree in finance and management from Missouri State University.
Insurance
Franchel Krueger joined PJC Insurance as a corporate health technician. Kreuger is a graduate of Iowa State University and has worked in employee benefits for 10 years.
Janet Nothnagel and Donna Allen of PJC Insurance attended the National Association of Insurance Women International Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Ariz.
More than 500 members and industry professionals participated in educational workshops and seminars and a trade show.
Nothnagel also was elected as Missouri State Council director for the National Association of Insurance Women International. Nothnagel, who has more than 23 years of experience with PJC, serves as the liaison for three state associations in Missouri.
Marketing
Celeste Skidmore, executive vice president of ADsmith Communications, and Jennifer Baker, director of Operation Us, attended the Media Sector Summit: Marriage Media Campaigns in Rome, Ga. The conference discussed strategies for national public interest campaigns on marriage.
