Marlin Co. hired creative interns Sam Pyle and Bethany Schwab. Pyle, who has a University of Missouri journalism degree, is a junior writer on accounts such as Splenda, Starbucks and Sweet Street Desserts. Schwab, who has degrees in graphic design and illustration from Missouri State University, is a designer for clients such as Starbucks, Sweet Street Desserts and Bonici.

Architecture

Structural Engineer and Vice President John Miller and architect Brian Wells of Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. received professional accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Miller has been with Butler, Rosenbury & Partners for 10 years, and Wells has spent two years with the company.

Corey Sengstacken passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam to earn her NCIDQ certification. She has been with Butler, Rosenbury & Partners for six years.

Banking

Tiffany Sugg was promoted to assistant branch manager at Arvest Bank's Branson Landing branch. The College of the Ozarks graduate has worked as an Arvest financial services representative since April and has been in banking since 2003.

Engineering

Carl Burnett of Scott Consulting Engineers PC passed his Missouri State Specific Land Surveying Examination to become a licensed professional land surveyor. Burnett has been with SCE since 2005, leaving briefly to work with the Polk County Surveyor.

Scott Consulting Engineers Surveying Department Manager Jerry L. Day received the Excellence in Surveying award by the Ozark Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors. The chapter also decided to name the award after Day, who has been with SCE since 2002 and was appointed to the board of governors of the National Society of Professional Surveyors in 2004. He previously owned Day Inc. surveying company for 28 years.

Daniel Snyder, Performance Based Safety LLC managing partner, was named to the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals Board of Directors in 2009. AHMP represents more than 4,000 hazardous materials professionals throughout the world.

Government

Linda F. Fowler, 67, of Springfield, was appointed to a five-year term to Missouri's 31st Circuit Judicial Commission. Fowler is a director for the State Bank of Southwest Missouri and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri.

Sally Hargis, 53, of Springfield, was appointed to a three-year term to Missouri's 31st Circuit Judicial Commission. Hargis is vice president of Ozarks Coca Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co. and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved a $440,000 Community Development Block Grant for Wright County to construct a wastewater collection and treatment system in the Grovespring community.

Willard is receiving $332,907 for drinking water infrastructure improvements through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Clean Water Initiative. Improvements will include chlorination facilities.

State Rep. Bob Dixon was named chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Transportation. Dixon, a Republican who represents District 140, also was appointed caucus chaplain.

Law

Husch Blackwell Sanders elected Paul D. Satterwhite and Christopher F. Weiss as partners in the firm's Springfield office. Satterwhite, an associate since 2004 in the labor and employment and education groups, earned his law degree in 2001 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Weiss, an associate with the firm since 2006, focuses on general litigation, appeals, real estate and business transactions. Weiss earned his law degree in 1999 from St. Louis University.

James E. Meadows was elected as a shareholder for Polsinelli Shughart PC, formerly Shughart Thomson & Kilroy PC. He practices business litigation at the Springfield office with an emphasis on bankruptcy, construction, real estate litigation and appeals. He joined the firm in 2001 after graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.

Real Estate

Coldwell Banker Vanguard Realtors' Springfield office and agents received national awards in November from Coldwell Banker Corp. Springfield's office was ranked 55th in adjusted gross commission and 20th in total units out of the company's top 100 offices. The office is also 10th in the top 20 offices regionally in total selling units.[[In-content Ad]]
