Angela Morelock, a partner in accounting firm BKD LLP's forensics and valuation services and leader of the firm's forensic and investigations team, was named one of Midwest CEO magazine's Most Influential Women. Morelock has 15 years of experience in accounting and is a certified fraud examiner who also provides consulting and expert witness testimony for clients including the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department. Along with other honorees, she will be recognized during a March 5 event in Kansas City.

Springfield Public Schools teachers Julia Armstrong and Sarah Carlton-Marshall received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to incorporate the Picturing America program in their eighth-grade social studies classrooms at Pipkin Middle School. The program brings American art into classrooms and libraries for examination and discussion.

U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt was appointed deputy ranking member of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee. As the second-highest ranking Republican on the committee, Blunt will serve on the energy and environment; health; and communications, telecommunications and Internet subcommittees.
The Greene County Democratic Central Committee elected Art Kessler as chairman to replace Craig Hosmer, who was elected chairman of the Missouri Democratic Party in December. Kessler is union president for the Carpenters Local 978 and serves on the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs and United Way of the Ozarks.
