Dale Garrett, assistant professor of social science at Evangel University, was published in the Leadership Advance Online, the Regent University School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship's Web magazine. In "Tying the Organization's Future to Strategic Foresight: Deal or no Deal," Garrett illustrates how strategizing and planning allows organizations to position themselves to make the best deals possible as circumstances change.

Missouri State University received 10-year reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education for its Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. The three-year program began in 1998 and accepts 25 to 30 students each year. MSU is one of two Missouri public universities to offer the program.

Engineering

Kelly Turner, associate engineer on Olsson Associates' Springfield transportation team, passed the professional engineering exam. He has been with Olsson since 2007 and has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Olsson Associates' employees Reid Catt and Kevin Lowe achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design professional accreditation. Catt, assistant engineer with the Springfield land development team, joined Olsson Associates in 2008 and has three years of experience working in civil and water resources engineering, as well as residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. Lowe, client manager for the local land development team, joined Olsson in 2005 and has more than 15 years of experience, including four years as the chief administrator for road and bridge design in Greene County and nine years with the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Andrew Peters, registered architect and project manager for Marshall-Waters-Woody Associates Inc., passed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design professional accreditation exam for new construction. Peters has been with the company for 17 years.

Health Care

Dr. Tyler Buzbee of Buzbee Dental attended a course on treating sleep-breathing disorders at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. The course covered criteria for determining patients at risk of sleep apneas, conducting airway evaluations, performing sleep studies using polysomnography and treating breathing disorders with oral devices.

Dr. Anthony Tay joined Ozarks Community Hospital's Webster County Clinic in Rogersville. Tay, a rheumatologist, specializes in diagnosis and management of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma, and he also sees patients with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Tay also practices at Skagges Regional Health Center in Branson and Citizens Memorial Healthcare in Bolivar. He earned his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin, completed residency at St. Louis University and a fellowship at the University of Southern California.

Hospitality

Days Inn - Battlefield was recognized as the No. 1 Days Inn in America for customer satisfaction, which recognizes the highest level of guest service within Days Inn Worldwide Inc. To be eligible for the award, a hotel must receive the highest customer rating score of any Days Inn property for 12 consecutive months, as determined by performance drivers and a guest satisfaction index calculated electronically through the chain's survey system.

Insurance

Nixon & Lindstrom Insurance named David Endacott its 2008 agent of the year. Endacott, a nine-year veteran of the insurance industry, specializes in business insurance program design.

Roofing

Larry Stock, president and chief executive officer of Springfield-based Queen City Roofing & Co., was elected to the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association's board of directors. The organization has more than 400 members nationwide, and Stock is the first contractor from southwest Missouri to serve on the board.

Marketing

Chris Russell was hired as marketing director for Hogan Land Title Co.'s offices in Greene, Christian, Stone and Taney counties.
