Architecture

Three intern architects at Butler, Rosenbury & Partners received LEED certification. Stephanie Shadwick and Lindsay Barcomb are both intern architects in the hospitality studio. Both graduated from Drury University with bachelor's degrees in architecture and art history. Adam Kreher is an intern architect in the retail/entertainment studio. He graduated from Drury University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Architecture.

Community

Rotaract Club of Springfield received the 2008 Star Volunteer Award from Boys & Girls Town of Missouri. The award is given each year to organizations that volunteer to support Boys & Girls Town. Rotaract Club holds a fundraising event each year for the organization, and Rotaract members volunteer at Boys & Girls Town's annual Halloween party, movie nights and game nights.

Raylene Appleby, president and co-owner of PJC Insurance Agency LLC, received an award during the Ozarks Women of Distinction Banquet. The award, sponsored annually by the Ozarks Alliance of Professional Organizations and MSU, is given to women who positively influence the lives of Ozarks' women.

PJC Insurance received the United Way of the Ozarks 2008 Pillar Award, given to a company or organization that creates and sustains a United Way culture within their group. Appleby also was elected to serve a three-year term on United Way's Board of Directors.

Health Care

Dr. Brian D. Biggers, surgeon with Crighton, Olive & Dunn Surgical Group, received board certification in general surgery from the American Board of Surgery. Biggers is a fellowship-trained surgeon in breast surgical oncology.

Nicole Osborne joined CoxHealth's Center for Internal Medicine as a physician's assistant. Osborne completed undergraduate education and physician assistant studies at MSU and is board-certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She specializes in internal medicine and endocrinology and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Missouri Association of Physician Assistants.

Dr. Ovais Zubair, physician with CoxHealth Senior Health Center South, received certification in hospice and palliative medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. The examination, offered for the first time in fall 2008, certifies physicians specializing in the care of chronically and terminally ill patients.

Hospitality

Days Inn Battlefield was named the No. 1 Days Inn for Customer Satisfaction. To be eligible, hotels must receive the highest customer rating score of any Days Inn property for 12 consecutive months, determined by guest satisfaction surveys.

Insurance

Jason Clamors joined PJC Insurance Agency LLC. Clamors works as a commercial sales agent in the company's commercial insurance department.

Interior Design

Cheryl Doran, senior interior designer with Pellham-Phillips Architects and Engineers, received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation from the Green Building Certification Institute. Doran has a bachelor's degree in commercial interior design from MSU and a master's degree in business management from Webster University.
