Community
The Kitchen Inc. elected officers to its board of trustees: Bob Schutz, president; Brian Allen, vice president; Diane Winter Reidle, secretary; and Michelle Vanater, treasurer.
The Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross received a $51,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation to be used for purchasing cots, shelter kits and blankets, and training volunteers.
Construction
Hutchens Construction Co. of Cassville received the 2008 Quality in Construction Award from the National Asphalt Pavement Association. Hutchens received the award for work on Horsebarn Road in Rogers, Ark., an Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department project. The company widened the two-lane road into five lanes, including a six-lane, double-split intersection.
Design
Jeff Walker, technical design specialist at BridgeBlue Sourcing Partners, completed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation. Walker previously worked as an interior designer with Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc.
Education
Victor Matthews joined Missouri State University as dean of the College of Humanities and Public Affairs. He previously served as associate dean, where he advised the dean regarding university policy and procedure, monitored course and administrative budgets, and coordinated student recruitment and marketing activities. He has been with the university since 1984 as a professor in the religious studies department.
Engineering
Ron Bogart joined C&C Group as a systems account manager. He has 24 years of experience in the mechanical and technological fields, including a master mechanical license from the city of Springfield. Bogart has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Evangel University.
Finance
Jaredd R. King, financial corporate services representative for Conco Cos., was elected to serve a two-year term on the board of directors for the National Association of Credit Management Credit Professionals Alliance.
Peoples Bank of the Ozarks added Erica Kimm and Bryant Doss to its staff. Kimm is branch manager at the bank's new East Sunshine Street location and has more than nine years of financial services experience. Doss is the bank's special asset manager and has more than 16 years of industry experience as well as a business management degree from Missouri State University.
Government
Gov. Jay Nixon appointed two local citizens to state boards and commissions. Springfieldian Richard C. Dunn was appointed to the Children's Trust Fund Board. Dunn is president of the Foundation for the Council of Churches of the Ozarks and is former director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. John R. Albright, of Sunrise Beach, joined the Missouri Community Service Commission. Albright is a retired director of Pfizer Inc. and is a certified trainer in leadership and management development and behavior management.
The Springfield Police Department promoted Bob Brown to major and placed him in command of the Support Services Division. Brown, who began his service with the department as an officer in 1990, replaces retiring Maj. Don Clark.
