Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield was awarded $2.3 million in Youth Opportunities Program tax credits from the Missouri Department of Economic Development. The credits are used to fund youth programs for violence prevention and employment, as well as activity center programs.
Missouri Department of Transportation Senior General Services Technician Richard Gardner, of Springfield, received Missouri Association of Public Purchasing's Buyer of the Year - Small Entity Award for 2009.
Construction
Mark Wheeler, a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-accredited professional, joined Dake-Wells Architecture. Wheeler graduated from Drury University's Hammons School of Architecture and has experience in health care projects.
Samuel Gene Butler of SustainaBuilt Construction passed his LEED examination to become a professional accredited in green building techniques.
Education
Kristi Johnson, assistant to the principal at Jeffries and McBride elementary schools. was named principal at Sequiota Elementary School. Johnson has a master's degree in education from Missouri State University.
Hillcrest High School senior Chase Neff received the 2009 Franklin O. Walstrand Memorial Scholarship from CU Community Credit Union. The award is given annually to one graduating student who is a member of the credit union. Neff plans to study physical therapy at Missouri State University.
MSU advisers Tracey Glaessgen and Carmen Boyd received 2009 Outstanding Adviser awards from the National Academic Advising Association. MSU advisers have received 10 state advising awards and 21 national advising awards since 1997.
Springfield R-XII School District added two principals and two assistant principals for the 2009-10 school year. Bill Powers will be the principal at Cherokee Middle School. He has served as assistant principal at Study Middle School and summer school principal at Kickapoo High School. Natalie Cauldwell will be the principal at Pershing Elementary and Middle School. She has served as principal of Sequiota and York elementary schools and assistant principal at Weaver and Doling elementary schools. Jarad Rinne will be the assistant principal at Study Middle School. Rinne has served as a math teacher since 2005 at Central High School, where he is also the head girls' golf coach. Stacye Manlove will be the assistant principal at Disney and Wanda Gray elementary schools. She began her SPS teaching career at Doling Elementary in 1998 and most recently as a third-grade teacher at McBride Elementary.

Kelly Dampier was named American National Property and Casualty's manager of the quarter in first-quarter 2009. Dampier manages ANPAC's claims services department.

Coldwell Banker Vanguard Realtor Peggy Mitchell was named the company's top Missouri agent for listed units sold and total units overall. Recognized at the Coldwell Banker 2009 International Business Conference, she also was 11th nationally for listed units sold and 14th nationally for total units overall.

Great Southern Travel received the Top 25 Award from Ensemble Travel Group. Fewer than 5 percent of Ensemble's more than 450 member agencies received the award, which is based on 2008 sales performance with Ensemble's preferred suppliers.
Bradley McCollum joined Nixa's Graystone Graphics Inc. as a sales associate. McCollum has experience in corporate and customer relations.
