Missouri's Stone Hill Winery's 2008 Vignoles earned the best white wine award at the Indy International Wine Competition. Stone Hill, which has locations in Branson and Hermann, competed against wineries from across the U.S. and 10 other countries.

Architecture

Architects Pam Haldiman, Eric Street, Bonnie Schlett and Kristi Beattie at Sapp Design Associates Architects PC earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditations.

Arts

Springfield Little Theatre hired Kim McCracken as director of development. McCracken received her bachelor's degree in theater from Truman State University and interned at Playhouse on The Square in Memphis, Tenn. She is responsible for show sponsorships and underwriting as well as fundraiser planning and promotion.

Springfield Symphony Orchestra named Tiffanie Grandon to the new position of operations manager. Grandon's responsibilities include hiring musicians, scheduling auditions and writing contracts. She spent the last two years as the symphony's librarian and personnel manager, and she has performed in the orchestra for 17 years.

Community

Gary Powell, a partner at law firm Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP, was named chairman of the advisory board for The Salvation Army Springfield, Missouri Corps. Powell has been a member of the board since 2004.

Education

The Association of Christian Librarians named Woodvall Moore, director of library and media services at Evangel University, as the recipient of the Emily Russel award. The honor has been given 15 times in the last 25 years, the latest being in 2001. Moore has worked at Evangel since 1976.

Neal Lopinot, director of Missouri State University's Center for Archaeological Research, received a $50,000 grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation to study three archaeological sites in southeast Kansas that will be destroyed as a result of road construction.

The U.S. Department of Education awarded MSU a nearly $500,000 grant to create an emergency management plan. The grant will span two years.

Finance

Robert Gray joined The Commerce Trust Co. as senior vice president and manager of Commerce's private banking division. Gray, who has 20 years of experience, is responsible for managing business development and customer service for the Springfield region.

Health Care

The marketing department at Citizens Memorial Healthcare won seven awards at The Strategic Marketing Awards. The marketing team won for best reader survey and best short version feature story, and received honorable mentions for best published department in a magazine, best consumer response generator, most effective consumer call to action and best use of an outsert.

The department also took home third place for best overall publication.

Dr. Hussam Alhawari joined CoxHealth Center for Internal Medicine. Alhawari, who is board-certified in internal medicine and specializes in endocrinology, attended medical school at Jordan University of Science and Technology near Ibrid, Jordan. His residency and fellowship were completed at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Dr. Corbin VanDeWege joined CoxHealth's Steeplechase Family Physicians. VanDeWege completed medical school at the Indiana School of Medicine and completed his residency at the CoxHealth Family Medicine Residency. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the Greene County Medical Society.

Insurance

Empire Bank Insurance Agency added David Ritchey as account executive. Ritchey has more than 23 years of insurance experience and was previously an independent agent.

Law

RGG Law promoted Lisa Pruitt to the new position of medical research analyst in the firm's Social Security department. Pruitt began working at the firm in 1997 as a Social Security case manager.

Media

MSU's broadcast services received seven awards by the Missouri Broadcaster Association. KOZK won top honors in the commercial and promotions categories, and received merit awards in the children's and special programs categories. KSMU-FM won first place in the documentary and public affairs category and also received merit awards.

Services

Krystal Kellogg joined Zen3 Spa & Bodyworks as a licensed nail technician. Kellogg graduated from the Academy of Hair Design in Springfield and has three years of experience in the spa industry.
