Melissa Higbie of Esterly, Schneider & Associates earned professional accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for new construction. Higbie is a member of the Construction Specification Institute and has been with Esterly, Schneider & Associates for 16 years.
Project Manager Adam C. Brown of Nabholz Construction Services passed his LEED exam for professional accreditation.
Banking
Bud Page of Financial Solutions earned the title of chartered financial consultant from American College, a not-for-profit financial planning institution in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Participants must complete eight courses and 16 hours of supervised examination.
Chlorene Hedgpeth and Carolyn Becker of Ozark Bank were inducted into the 50-Year club of the Missouri Bankers Association. Hedgpeth, the bank's chairwoman, began her career to help her husband in the bookkeeping department in 1959. Becker, vice president of bookkeeping, began her career right after high school and has been with Ozark Bank since 2000.
The U.S. Commerce Association awarded Southwest Community Bank with the 2009 Best of Springfield Award in the State Commercial Banks category. The USCA Best of Local Business Award Program honors companies that have achieved marketing success and have focused on quality.
Education
Katheryne Staeger-Wilson, director of disability services at Missouri State University, was one of 25 chosen to participate in the U.S. Department of Education's Project ShIFT, or Shaping Inclusion through Foundational Transformation. The grant program's goal is to improve disability services at higher education institutions.
Chantal Levesque-Bristol was hired as director of MSU's Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. Levesque-Bristol was formerly assistant psychology department head and provost fellow for teaching and learning.
Health Care
Citizens Memorial Healthcare was named one of the nation's "most wired" hospitals for the second year by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The top 100 list recognizes health systems that utilize information technology to better serve patients. CMH was honored for its integrated electronic health record system.
Dr. John C. Crighton joined Citizens Memorial Healthcare in Bolivar as a general surgeon. Crighton has more than 30 years of experience as a board-certified surgeon in the Springfield area. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, interned at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and completed his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Dr. Kevin Presley joined Pleasant Hope Family Medical Center, part of Citizens Memorial Healthcare, as a family practice physician. Presley graduated from Des Moines University's medical school and completed his residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Chris Nowak, regional director of Clinical Engineering Services for St. John's Health System, was elected chair of the U.S. Board of Examiners of Biomedical Equipment Technicians. The board certifies biomedical equipment technicians, radiology equipment specialists and laboratory equipment specialists.
