Associate architect Travis Tindall joined Jennifer Wilson Architect LLC. Tindall, who has a bachelor's degree in architecture from Drury University, has three years of experience, including work on historic preservation, courthouse and church projects.

Emily Biagioni, architectural intern at Creative Ink Architects, passed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design professional accreditation exam for new construction.

Community

Juli Stovall joined the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging as resource development director. Stovall has more than 20 years of marketing, graphic design and fundraising experience.

Junior League of Springfield elected officers for the 2009-10 year. Andrea McKinney, a 13-year Junior League member and board member for Isabel's House and Springfield-Greene County Parks, is president. Other officers are Lynn Tynes, president-elect; Dot Atkinson, vice president of finance; Meghan Sponenberg, vice president of community; Michele Risdal Barnes, recording secretary; Pam Leggett-Lutes, vice president of membership; and Nicole Norton, vice president of communication.

Springfield Regional Opera received a $15,000 grant from the Missouri Arts Council for current staff support or additional positions. The funds come from the National Endowment for the Arts, which received American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money.

Construction

Adam Brown, project manager with Nabholz Construction Services, earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional status.

Education

Adam Meador was named Bingham Elementary School principal. Meador taught three years in Branson's school district and has taught in Springfield since 2005, most recently as summer school administrator at Disney Elementary. Meador received a Master of Education from Evangel University and is working toward a doctorate in education at Lindenwood University.

Missouri State and Drury universities were among the 158 colleges chosen by The Princeton Review for inclusion in this year's Best in the Midwest list. It is MSU's seventh consecutive year on the list, which is based on qualitative academic evaluations and student surveys. Being named to the list puts the two schools roughly in the top 25 percent in the nation.

Edward Choate joined MSU as human resources director. He has nearly 30 years of industry experience, including serving as an employment and labor attorney for human resources and faculty lecturer at Southern Connecticut State University and a private attorney in Carterville, Ill.

Government

Four Springfield police officers received the Meritorious Service Award from the department. Cpl. Rob Schroeder and officers Jason Kitta, Ethan Ramsey and Cody Williams received the honor for their safe and effective response last year to the scene of an attempted suicide.

Health Care

Dr. Shachar Tauber of St. John's Health System was appointed to the self-assessment committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology for a one-year term. Tauber graduated with a medical degree and completed his residency at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans.

Becky McKnight, program director for Ozarks Technical Community College's physical therapist assistant program, received the American Physical Therapy Association's F.A. Davis Award as an Outstanding Physical Therapist Assistant Educator.

Otolaryngolgist Dr. J. Travis Brawner joined Skaggs Regional Medical Center. An ear, nose and throat specialist, Brawner completed medical school at University of Missouri-Columbia and received his residency training at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

Journalism

Jeremy Elwood was promoted to Springfield Business Journal's Web editor. Elwood has worked as an SBJ reporter for nearly five years.[[In-content Ad]]
