The Rotary Club of Springfield installed new officers: Tamara de Wild, president; Miles Sweeney, president-elect; Kim Nash, secretary; Brenda Logsdon, treasurer; Cindy Stephens, sergeant-at-arms; and Nancy Dornan, Mike White, Bernie McCarthy and Kathleen O'Dell, board directors. Past-president Paul Reinert will continue to serve on the board.

The Ozark Fire Protection District received an Assistance to Firefighters Grant of nearly $41,000 to cover salary, benefits and equipment costs associated with hiring the district's first fire code inspector.

Construction

Kristi L. Beattie of Sapp Design Associates Architects and J. Brent Beattie of Wildcat Materials Inc. each passed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professionals exam.

Health Care

Dr. Jamil Darrouji joined St. John's Clinic in the pulmonology division. Darrouji graduated from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria, and completed his residency and fellowship at Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus. He also completed a residency with Finch University of Health Science and The Chicago Medical School as well as a pulmonary fellowship with Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J.

Dr. Mary Kay Vaske joined St. John's Clinic in the pathology division. Vaske graduated from the University Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, N.Y., and finished her residency at the University of Arizona. She also participated in fellowships at the Mayo Clinic and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Four southwest Missouri nonprofits received grant funding from the Missouri Foundation for Health: Hand in Hand Ministries, which offers mental health services and community health education programs, received $100,000; Options Pregnancy Clinic, which provides pregnancy testing, counseling and parenting education services, received $83,834; The Kitchen Inc., which provides food, primary care and dental services to the poor, received $200,000; and the Webster County Health Unit, which provides forensic exams to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, received $150,000.

Hospitality

John Q. Hammons was honored with the Hilton Family Lifetime Achievement award from the Hilton Hotels Corp.

Human Resources

J. Miles Personnel Services was recognized as a Top 25 Agency by Inter-City Personnel Associates Inc., a group of 250 recruiting agencies across the U.S. Recognition is given to the top 25 revenue-generating agencies within the group in the first and second quarters of 2009.

National Home Products in Ozark received Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program status by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Insurance

Croley Insurance Agency was named a 2009 premier partner by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

PJC Insurance Agency Senior Vice President Bob Meek attended the Missouri Association of Insurance Agents 2009 Leadership Conference in Osage Beach. The conference, focusing on industry best practices, was attended by 325 insurance professionals and included a keynote speech by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Medical Benefits Group in Nixa was named to the Crystal Club by Michigan-based American Community Mutual Insurance Co. The club represents the top 26 producers of more than 14,000 agents in 14 states.

Law

Lathrop & Gage attorneys Gary Cunningham, Frank Evans III, Dan Nelson, Lee Poppen and Randell Wallace were named in the 2010 Best Lawyers in America, published by U.S. News & World Report.

Clifford S. Brown, a shareholder of law firm Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell and Brown PC, was selected to appear in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. This is Brown's 15th appearance in the annual publication that recognizes lawyers in their practice specialties.

Media

Mediacom Communications was named Multiple Cable Systems Operator of the Year by industry publication CableFAX The Magazine. The award honors the operator that best demonstrates excellence in overall operations during the prior year. Mediacom is the eighth largest cable TV company in the U.S.

Psychology

Lori Daniel joined McAuley Counseling as a licensed psychologist. Daniel provides sessions for individuals, couples or groups for depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationships, identity, personal growth issues and career concerns.

Real Estate

Coldwell Banker Vanguard, Realtors added five agents in its Springfield office: Lisa Arner, Judy Dillabough, Layne Henslee, Dorri Mizell and Renee Textor.

Recreation

Rivercut Golf Course was named "best muny" by Golf Digest Magazine. The course, operated by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, received four and a half out of five stars.

Table Rock Lake in Branson will receive $7.55 million as part of two national spending bills totaling $297 million. The money will fund various programs by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, including flood risk management, hydropower and environmental stewardship. The program, which prevented $38 million in flood damage last year, will support 1,183 jobs in the area.

Sales

Mike Pitman was named sales manager for Sight and Sound Theaters. Pitman oversees sales operations for the theater company's locations in Branson and Lancaster, Pa. He has experience as a national marketing director for Fogle Enterprises and as vice president of sales and marketing for Ozarks Discovery IMAX Theatre.
