Shawn Schroeder, Springfield-Branson National Airport's assistant director of aviation, was named president of the Great Lakes Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives. He will hold the title until August 2010. AAAE is made up of airport executives who represent 850 airports. Schroeder has been with the Springfield-Branson airport since 2005 and was previously the assistant director of aviation at Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas.

Education

The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools installed its 2009-10 officers: Allen Kunkel, president; Michael Replogle, president-elect; Beau Barrett, treasurer; Sandy Howard, secretary; Kim Sullivan, past-president. The foundation also recognized the Central High School Band Fund, the Central High School Debate Fund and the Young Librarian Scholarship as new funds for the year.

Health Care

Oxford Outreach, an arm of Oxford HealthCare, appointed an advisory board. Members serving a one-year term are Bonnie Bell of Meyer Communications, state Sen. Norma Champion, R-Springfield, Stephanie Haase of Schweitzer United Methodist Church, Dr. Roy W. Holand of Ferrell-Duncan Clinic, and Stephen Visio of Executive Data Control. Oxford Outreach is a program that trains volunteers in the Springfield and Branson metro areas to work with patients, caregivers, community members and Oxford HealthCare staff.

Skaggs Regional Medical Center added three physicians to its medical staff.

Dr. J. Travis Brawner, an otolaryngologist, joined Ozark Mountain Ear, Nose and Throat LLC. Brawner completed medical school at University of Missouri-Columbia and received his residency training at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Dr. Sarah Buchanan, an Ob-Gyn, joined Skaggs Family Health Clinic. Buchanan attended medical school at University of Missouri-Kansas City. She completed her residency in family practice at Seneca Lakes Family Practice in Seneca, S.C., and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Pennsylvania State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

Dr. Jiantao Ding joined Skaggs Oncology Group as a medical oncologist. Ding attended medical school at Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Six physicians joined St. John's Health System.

Dr. Remi Fasipe joined St. Jude-St. John's Affiliate Clinic. Fasipe received her medical education from the University of Lagos College of Medicine in Nigeria, and she completed a two-year pediatric residency at University Medical Center at Stony Brook, N.Y. She served as chief resident in the pediatrics department at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey and completed fellowships in New York and the U.K. Fasipe is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Preeti Modi joined St. John's Clinic-Internal Medicine-Smith Glynn Callaway. Modi received her medical education at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh, India, and completed her residency at Resurrection Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill. She is board certified in internal medicine and has membership in the American College of Physicians and the Indian American Medical Association.
