Marilyn Odneal, horticulture outreach adviser at Missouri State University's Mountain Grove campus, received $20,700 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Business Enterprise Program to explore technology that could extend crop production seasons.
Nancy Colbaugh, principal of Springfield's Eugene Field Elementary School, is the 2009 recipient of Evangel University Alumni Association's President's Award. Colbaugh, who earned her bachelor's degree from Evangel in 1970, has been principal at Eugene Field since 2001.
Jean Orr, associate professor of psychology at Evangel University, visited Bible College of Malaysia this summer to teach a weeklong class on basic counseling skills to 43 students.

Hiland Dairy president and general manager Gary L. Aggus received the Missouri Southern State University 2009 Outstanding Alumni Award. Aggus graduated cum laude from MSSU in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and management, and an associate degree in computer programming. He joined Hiland Dairy in 1984 and in 2003 was promoted to his current position. In 2006, Aggus added the positions of chief operating officer and president of joint ventures for Prairie Farms Dairy, and that year was inducted into the Missouri Dairy Hall of Honors.
