Three area employees of the University of Missouri Extension were recognized by their peers at the University of Missouri Extension County Clerical Staff Recognition Awards. Barb Stillings, office manager for the MU Extension center in Christian County, won first place in the Rookie Clerical Awards; Nancy Chambers, administrative assistant at the MU Extension center in Greene County won second place in the same category. Lorri Winters, office manager for the MU Extension center in Greene County, placed third in the Junior Clerical Awards category.
Broadcasting
Steve Kelly was hired as program director for KTTS 94.7 FM. Kelly, who began his career in Colby, Kan., and has worked at radio stations in Missouri and Oklahoma, recently served as assistant operations/program director for a radio group in Albany, Ga.
Education
MSU's Panhellenic Council received a National Panhellenic Award for risk management programs in the category for campuses with six to 12 sorority chapters. The award was presented at the National Panhellenic Conference's annual meeting in Tampa, Fla.
Webster University, which has a campus in Springfield, is ranked No. 24 in the Best Universities-Master's Midwest category of more than 1,400 U.S. colleges and universities surveyed in U.S. News & World Report's 2010 America's Best Colleges edition. Webster University's Study Abroad program also was recognized, ranking in the top 2 percent of the programs at the schools surveyed.
Ye Wang, assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders at MSU, received two grants totaling $59,578 from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for two deaf education projects, Web-Based E-learning Courses in Reading and Deafness and Community of Practice for School Districts and Approved Private Agencies.
Dawn Hiles was named Drury University's dean of admissions. She earned a bachelor's degree in marketing, management and administration from Indiana University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Drury. Hiles has held several positions at Drury, most recently executive director of the Edward Jones Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Randy Fuller, associate professor of English at Drury University, was awarded a $160,231 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a summer 2010 workshop to study the Battle of Wilson's Creek. Jayne L. White, Drury professor of education and child development also will participate in the workshop as master teacher, and visiting workshop faculty will come from Harvard, Yale, Washington University, Hendrix and Missouri State University.
Energy
Ozarks New Energy Inc. elected five new members to its 13-member board of directors: Art Boyt of SolSource Teknologi; Chris Carson of Carson-Mitchell Inc.; Alan Fears of O'Reilly Automotive; Duane Highly of Associated Electric Cooperative Inc.; Jerany Jackson of Great River Engineering. Alexander Wait, Ed Cahoj and Dan Chiles were re-elected as board president, vice-president and secretary, respectively. Scott Miller was elected as treasurer.
Insurance
Joe Moore, American National Property and Casualty Co. litigation specialist, earned the chartered property casualty underwriter designation. Moore has been with ANPAC since 1999.

Attorney Paul W. King was named to the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers in America, for the second consecutive year, in the area of Labor and Employment Law.
