Layton Childress joined Ozarks Technical Community College as dean of technical education. Childress has worked at OTC for 10 of his 22 years in education, serving as OTC Career Center director, Lebanon Education Center coordinator and classroom instructor. Childress holds a Master of Science in Technology and Occupational Education from Central Missouri State University and has worked as an electrician.
Recently retired OTC instructor Carl Locke received a 2009 Senior Faculty Service Award from the Missouri Community College Association at the annual conference in Lake Ozark. Locke is one of few remaining instructors who taught at Graff Area Vo-Tech, which became OTC. He began teaching electrical trades in 1973.
Finance
Rod Miller, a certified financial planner with Piatchek and Associates, passed the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's Series 53 exam qualifying to supervise research and trading of municipal securities. Miller provides investment and insurance analyses, retirement and estate planning, and other financial services to individuals and businesses.
Nick Love, president of Love Insurance & Financial Services Inc., was approved for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table for the 12th year. Membership recognizes knowledge, ethics, client service and productivity.
Sandra Barrera was promoted to audit in-charge accountant with Davis, Lynn & Moots PC. She is a certified public accountant who has been with the firm for nearly two years and provides audit functions for government and not-for-profit entities.
UMB Financial Corp. and its asset management division ranked No. 21 among Bank Insurance Market Research Group's 2009 Who's Who in Bank Wealth Management. The annual listing, distributed and sponsored by the Bank Insurance & Securities Association, is ranked by 2008 trust revenues.
Health Care
CoxHealth received first place for its Special Delivery Baby Affair in the Special Marketing or PR category during the Show-Me Excellence awards, presented annually by the Missouri Association for Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing. CoxHealth also received second place in the Media Relations Activity or Program category and third place in the Special Marketing or PR category, both for The Clinic at Walmart launch.
Dr. Curtis P. Schreiber joined the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Neurology Clinic in Bolivar. Schreiber attended medical school at the Mayo Medical School and completed an internship and residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn. He also has 18 years of experience as a neurologist in the Springfield area, is board-certified in neurology and has additional certification in headache management and medicine. Schreiber is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Headache Society, American Medical Association, International Headache Society, Greene County Medical Society and National Headache Foundation.
CMH endocrinologist LaVonne Berg attended the 80th American Thyroid Association meeting. Major topics of discussion were advances in thyroid cancer, treatment of multinodular goiters and issues with thyroid assays. Berg is board certified in adult and pediatric endocrinology.
CMH was named for the second time to the HomeCare Elite, an annual national review that identifies the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified home health care providers. Agencies are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in the categories of quality outcomes, quality improvement and financial performance. CMH is one of 47 Missouri agencies named to the list in 2009.

Nick Burlison joined PJC Insurance in the commercial insurance department as a commercial sales agent. Burlison has nine years of banking and commercial lending experience.
Nonprofit
Rev. Jim Oman was named executive director of The Rainbow Network. Oman has 23 years of experience with various Christian ministries, including The Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church, Saint Paul School of Theology and Campbell United Methodist Church in Springfield. Oman joined Rainbow Network, which serves the poor in Nicaragua, in 2008 as vice president of development and previously served as interim executive director.[[In-content Ad]]
