Springfield-based Noble named Andy Hopson president of its Chicago office. Hopson comes to Noble from agency consulting group Real Good Idea, where he served as strategist and senior adviser.
Education
Missouri State University's department of technology and construction management students earned first place in design and innovation at the Robotics Manipulator Competition by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering. MSU's robotics team won second place in controls methodology.
Pawan Kahol, professor and associate dean for MSU's College of Natural and Applied Science, received the 2009 Missouri Professor of the Year Award from Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching during a Washington, D.C., event. Kohl has a doctorate in physics from Panjab University in India.
The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary added Beth Grant as an associate professor of intercultural education. She earned a master's degree from AGTS and a Ph.D. from Biola University.
The Bolivar R-I School District received an Accreditation with Distinction in the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Annual Performance Report.
This is the fifth year Bolivar schools have earned that honor.
Central High School International Baccalaureate Spanish teacher Lisa Lilley was recognized as 2010 Teacher of the Year by the American Council for Teaching of Foreign Languages. She received the award at the ACTFL Convention in San Diego.
The Missouri Community College Association awarded Ozarks Technical Community College's Rosa Davis a 2009 Administration/Professional Leadership Award. Davis, who retired as dean of general education, now teaches part-time at OTC.

Myer Hotels named Michael Woody assistant general manager of Comfort Inn West and Daniel Hamman assistant general manager at Best Western Musical Capital Inn.
Woody holds an associate degree from Ozarks Technical Community College and an entertainment management degree from MSU. Hamman is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho.
Insurance
New York Life Insurance Co. announced qualifiers for its councils, an agent commissions measurement. Mike Olwig and Mike Moore qualified for the 2009 Quality Council; Rick Benward, Shawn Mayr, Chad Connell and Linda Weisbrod qualified for the 2009 Executive Council; and Tyler James qualified for the 2009 Presidents Council.
Nonprofit
The 3M Foundation made a $250 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks as part of its 3M Volunteer Match. The volunteer match donates to nonprofit organizations where company employees or retirees volunteer for 25 hours or more during a year. Jim Robeson, senior technician at 3M, volunteered more than 100 hours at BBBS.
Rick Hughlett, owner of Rick's Automotive, was named 2008-09 Rotary Volunteer of the Year by the Rotary Club of Springfield-Southeast.
The Family Violence Center named Jane Knabb as shelter director. Knabb, who has a degree in sociology and criminal justice, was previously the center's outreach coordinator.

Matt Lemmon was named director of digital content for Whitaker Publishing. Lemmon, the former editor of GO Magazine, is responsible for managing www.417mag.com. He received his master's degree in business administration from Drury University.
