T. Edward Pinegar Jr. and Carol Pinegar received the 2009 Bronze Bear Award from Missouri State University. The Pinegars, both MSU alumni, served on the Board of Governors and the Missouri State Foundation Board of Directors, and both have made multiple gifts to the university.

Chase Card Services donated $9,000 to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools. The donation will be used to purchase interactive white boards for classrooms at Ed V. Williams Elementary School.

Finance

Josh Hartman joined Arvest Bank as a client adviser and investment specialist in Springfield. He specializes in individual and business retirement plans, wealth-transfer strategies and investments. Hartman most recently was a financial adviser with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, and he has a Master of Business Administration from Webster University.

Julie Cummings joined BKD LLP as the firm's human resources director. She previously served as vice president of human resources for Metropolitan National Bank, and she also previously worked in human resources for Schreiber Foods and Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co. Cummings is a certified senior professional of human resources and has an MBA from Missouri State University.

Food

Panera Bread/Traditional Bakery Inc. promoted Sean Kosar to district manager of the southwest Missouri market. Kosar has been with Panera Bread for 10 years and is responsible for daily operations at the five Springfield Panera cafés, as well as stores in Joplin and Branson.

Insurance

Cameron Black joined Ollis & Co. as wellness director to develop work-site wellness programs to help clients reduce long-term health costs. Black has a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science from Drury University and has more than five years of wellness experience.

New York Life Insurance Co. announced that several Springfield agents qualified for the 2009 council, an agent commissions measurement. Steve Schneider Jr. and Steve Callery qualified for the Presidents Council; Tom Herrod, Leslie Thomas and C. David Letterman qualified for the Executive Council; Jason Gaynor qualified for the Premier Executive Council; and Russ Meek qualified for the MBA Quality Council.

Media

KSPR hired Bridget Lovelle as news director, replacing Brad Belote, who was promoted to the newly created position of digital media content manager for parent company KY3 Inc. Lovelle was assistant news director at the ABC/CW station in Memphis, Tenn. for the last seven years, and previously worked as executive producer at WAVY in Norfolk, Va.
