The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded Consortium of Care Homeless Assistance grants to six southwest Missouri groups that provide programs for the homeless. The agencies, which participated in a national competition to receive federal funds, are: Jasper County Public Housing Agency, $54,228; Economic Security Corporation of Southwest Area, $210,269; Lafayette House $63,000; Housing Authority of Springfield, $117,912; The Kitchen Inc., $476,700; and Church Army Branson, $68,906.
The Ozarks Regional YMCA received a $10,000 grant from the BKD Foundation Southern Missouri Advisory Committee. The donation will go toward the Pat Jones Family YMCA’s Pooling Our Resources capital campaign.
The Killuminati Foundation named its 2010 board of directors: Jeanna Callahan, president; Hilary Wehmeyer, vice president; Britni Seckinger, secretary; Brandon Crouse, foster chairman; Kathleen Nehring, BARC! chairwoman; Carah Patterson, development chairwoman; and Jennifer Patterson, education chairwoman.

Education
Glendale High School’s yearbook and magazine won first-place awards in the American Scholastic Press Association Annual Contest/Review for Scholastic Yearbooks, Magazines and Newspapers. The 2008–09 Falcon Yearbook was awarded first place with special merit, while Quill Newsmagazine won a first place award.
Evangel senior Jonathan Loutzenhiser was awarded a $1,125 Edward Jones Scholarship for the spring 2010 semester. Loutzenhiser is majoring in marketing. Edward Jones underwrote the scholarship through a donation to the Missouri Colleges Fund.

Finance
The Whitlock Co. promoted Kevin Hogan from tax manager to senior manager. Melinda Williams was hired as tax preparer, and Anne McCormick joined the firm as marketing coordinator.
Samuel Ackerman joined Dougherty & Associates, Ameriprise Financial Inc., as research and planning analyst. Ackerman earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Missouri State University.
Elliott, Robinson & Co. promoted certified public accountant Sherry Williams to supervisor. Williams has worked at the firm for nine years. She graduated with an accounting degree from Missouri State University. Chris Myers and Gary Wood were promoted to senior staff accountants. Stephanie Rice joined the company as a staff accountant, and Benjamin Zachary and Jessica Foley have been hired as interns.
Bart Evans joined Springfield First Community Bank as vice president, residential mortgage lending. Evans, who has nine years of banking experience, most recently worked as vice president and director of residential lending at Great Southern Bank.

Marketing
Scott Miller joined Red Crow Marketing as an account executive. His responsibilities include working with clients on media buys, branding, public relations, event planning, social marketing and talent casting. Miller has more than 10 years of experience in marketing, most recently with Gannett Media Group.

Real Estate
Brian Loughrige of HomeVestors franchise Springfield Property Management Inc. was named Top Buyer for 2009 at the Home-Vestors Annual Convention. The franchise received a Rising Star Award and was named a Top Closer of 2009 and Top Seller for 2009.
