The Arc of the Ozarks promoted Michael Rasmussen to systems manager. Rasmussen provides systems management and support at The Arc’s Springfield campus and satellite locations.

The organization also named Ben Thatcher as Springfield Employee of the Year and Patty Reed as Monett Employee of the Year. Thatcher is supervisor for the Arc’s autism team, while Reed is program manager for Cassville Community Connections.

The Regional Girls Shelter added members to its board of directors: teacher Nancy Chappell; Forest Institute graduate student LuAnne Even; Sara Horner of CoxHealth; Bethany Kehlenbrink of Bates and Associates Architects; and Natalie Nunn of KSPR-TV.

Education
The U.S. Department of Energy awarded an $85,000 grant to Missouri State University physics and astronomy professor Robert Mayanovic to help fund his project, “In-Situ Investigations of Materials under Extreme Conditions in Supercritical Aqueous Fluids.”

MSU assistant research professor of agriculture Maciej Pszczolkowski received a $6,210 award from the Missouri Department of Agriculture. The funds will be directed toward Pszczolkowski’s research into development of a trap to control green June beetles.

Sandra Byrd, MSU accounting professor and director of the Low Income Tax Clinic, was awarded a $7,340 grant from the Greene County Senior Citizens Services Fund. The money will help expand an MSU student program that offers free tax services for seniors.

The Best Christian Workplaces Institute named Evangel University one of the Best Christian Workplaces in the United States. Evangel is one of 27 businesses and institutions to be certified this year. It is the sixth time the university has received the certification.

Finance
Northwestern Mutual’s RPS Financial Group hired financial representative Bobby Lien. He previously worked as a client adviser at Reliable Superstore.

Financial planner Mark Ellman and investment adviser Lanny Curnes each earned a President’s Conference Award from Met Life Securities Inc.

Brandon Weimer joined A Plus Payroll’s business development department to secure new business and manage customer relationships. Previously, Weimer worked as a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual.

Health Care
Gregory D. Johnson, administrator and CEO of Cox Monett Hospital, was elected president of the Missouri Hospital Association Southwest District Council.

Restaurant
Jerry Hillhouse was hired as general manager of the Panera Bread at Library Station. Hillhouse has worked in the restaurant industry for 17 years.

Sales
Chris Young joined Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. as territory sales manager. Young oversees heavy equipment sales east and northeast of the city. He earned his degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri and has more than 15 years of experience in heavy equipment sales and management.[[In-content Ad]]
