Culinary Robert Stricklin, assistant professor of culinary arts at College of the Ozarks and Keeter Center, won first place in the American Culinary Federation ACF Central Regional Conference’s One Pot Win A Lot competition. He will compete for the national title Aug. 2–5 at the 2010 ACF National Convention in Anaheim, Calif.

Health Care Dr. Brian Adkison joined St. John’s Clinic-Family Medicine-West Kearney. Adkison earned his doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Deaconess Health Services in St. Louis. Adkison is board certified in family medicine and a member of the Greene County Medical Society.
Dr. Robert Belk joined St. John’s Clinic-Anesthesiology. Belk earned his doctor of medicine from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed his fellowship at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. He is board certified in anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists.
Dr. John Deaver joined St. John’s Clinic-OB/GYN-Hospitalists. Deaver received his M.D. from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship in New York, at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, respectively.
Psychologist Michael Murrell attended the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Institute, Inc. workshop “The Neurobiology of Consciousness, Trauma Induced Disorders of Consciousness and EMDR: A Glimpse Inside the Brain.”
Nonprofit The Mark Thallander Foundation received an Angel Award from the Excellence in Media organization. Organist Thallander is a 1972 alumnus of Evangel University and serves as artist-in-residence at Evangel.
Ron Carrier received The Child Advocacy Center’s 2010 Dr. John P. Ferguson Award for Child Advocacy. Carrier is general counsel for the Springfield region of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. The award recognizes a person, family or organization that demonstrates commitment to helping abused children.
