Five nonprofits in the Springfield region collectively received more than $1 million in grants from the Missouri Foundation for Health: Advocates for a Healthy Community Inc., $295,087; CoxHealth, $300,000; Faith Community Health (Branson), $40,000; Home Parenteral Services, $200,000; and Safe at Home, $24,000.

U.S. Sen. Kit Bond was awarded the Henry Shaw Medal from the Missouri Botanical Garden. The medal recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the garden, botanical research, horticulture, conservation or to the museum community.

Rob Dixon was hired as manager of business development for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Dixon manages economic development prospects and business retention and expansion programs. He most recently served as the director of community and economic development for the city of Hollister and has a bachelor’s in political science from University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Seven area financial advisers graduated from The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors’ six-month Leadership in Life Institute: Brian Dixon, Dixon Inc.; Stacey Douglas, Marketing Financial; Jean Harmison, Club Management Services; Steve Heintzelman, American Family; Alan Lockhart, Marketing Financial; Chad Page, Mutual, Omaha; and Andrew Semple, Elite Financial Group.
 
Health Care
Skaggs Regional Medical Center was recognized in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine as one of the nation’s Most Wired Small and Rural Hospitals. This is the eighth consecutive year Skaggs has made the ranking, which is based on surveys in the areas of business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, care continuum and infrastructure.

The acute rehabilitation unit at Skaggs was awarded a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for its inpatient rehabilitation and stroke specialty programs for adults.

Hospitality
Heidi Clark was hired as spa director at Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa. Clark is responsible for operations and staff at Spa Chateau. Most recently, she was a consultant at Spalogics.

Dr. Hong Wang joined CoxHealth as a member of the Springfield Inpatient Physicians clinic. Wang earned a medical degree at Southeast University Medical College in Nanjing, JiangSu, China. She completed residencies in internal medicine at ZhongShan Hospital of DaLian University in DaLian, LiaoNing, China and Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. She also completed a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at ZhongShan Hospital of DaLian University.
 
Dr. Ronda Azelton
was hired at CoxHealth’s Family Practice and Obstetrics of Monett.
Azelton attended medical school at Kansas City University School of Medicine and Biosciences. She completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Wisconsin and completed a fellowship in maternal child health at PCC Community Wellness Center.

Dr. Andrew Schultz joined Ferrell-Duncan Clinic as a urologist. Schultz earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in urology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.[[In-content Ad]]
