Education Michael Reed, associate professor of physics and astronomy at Missouri State University, received a $41,000 grant from NASA to help train students in several disciplines including astronomy, geology, biology, and material and computer sciences. Health Care Mercy Health Ministries Support Services received accreditation for Mercy’s Case Management programs in Springfield and Chesterfield from Washington, D.C.-based URAC. The programs are made available at no charge to members of health plans affiliated with Mercy, and are tailored to provide support to the physician’s plan of care, education to patients and assistance in navigating the health care system.
Nonprofit The Missouri Rehabilitation Association presented the Rich Walker Award to Gary Maddox, executive director of the Southwest Center for Independent Living, at the annual MRA Disability Awareness Fair. The award recognizes dedication and service to individuals with disabilities. Maddox has more than 20 years of experience and started the Access II Independent Living Center in Gallatin, Mo. in 1996.
