The Whitlock Co. appears in the annual list of Best Accounting Firms by Accounting Today and the Best Companies Group. This is the fourth year in a row the firm has received the award that recognizes 100 accounting companies.

Banking
Casey Pyle joined the BancorpSouth commercial lending team as its senior vice president. Pyle has 14 years of banking experience, including 11 years in commercial lending.

Global University added 10 staff members: Chris Lamberth, faculty coordinator; Andrea Moore, enrollment representative; Kristy Teague and Adam Nelson, editors; Tao Ren, Chinese language specialist; Jackie Preece, clerical assistant; Aarin Wilson, receptionist; Zack Coffman, inventory control coordinator; Ted Heaston, director for ministry networks; and Tim Teague, dean of the School for Evangelism and Discipleship.

Evangel University Spanish Professor Eliezer Oyola published his second book of poetry, “The Land of the Free and Other Poems.”

Evangel’s Students in Free Enterprise was awarded a $2,000 grant through the Lowe’s Community Improvement Challenge to fund a team charitable project.

Finance
Rob Hendrickson, a financial adviser with Eagle Strategies LLC and New York Life, joined more than 1,000 professional insurance agents, advisers, brokers and employee benefits specialists in Washington to meet with congressional members and staff as part of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors annual conference.

Government
The Institute of Transportation Engineers recognized the Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks with the Transportation Achievement Award for Facilities at its annual meeting and exhibit. Its 11,500-square-foot facility, which was developed by the city of Springfield and the Missouri Department of Transportation and opened earlier this year, is expected to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards.

Greene County Assessor Rick Kessinger was elected 2012 vice president of the Missouri State Assessors Association during an annual conference in Branson.

Health Care
CoxHealth received the Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart and Stroke Associations for the second year in a row. CoxHealth is one of 91 health systems in the nation to receive the honor.

Insurance
Ollis & Co. hired Valerie Adams to work in its employee benefits department. She is a licensed life and health insurance professional with nearly 20 years of experience.

Medical Benefits Group received national recognition from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield/Well Point. The company was awarded with Anthem’s Most Valued Partner Award for its 2011 Medicare enrollments with Anthem.

Law
Craig Preston was promoted to the position of member at O’Reilly, Jensen & Preston LLC. Preston has worked as an associate attorney for the firm since 2008.

Media
The Missouri Area Council named KOLR-10 and Ozarks Local News General Manager Mark Gordon Volunteer of the Year for his work with the Boys & Girls Club of Springfield.

Gordon was president of Boys & Girls Club of Springfield in 2010, when Boys & Girls Club launched mental health and mentoring programs.

Nonprofit
The American Cancer Society honored Mary Kay Rodgers, of Willard, with the Terese Lasser Memorial Award, the top national award for volunteer service in the Reach to Recovery program.

Lost & Found Grief Center named seven board members: Greg Aleshire of Aleshire Robb PC; Cameron Collins of Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins; Justin French of Barker-Phillips-Jackson Inc.; Jon Swope of St. John’s Health System; Brian Straughan of Springfield First Community Bank; and community volunteers Jana Hansen and Lisa Slavens.

The Rainbow Network received an $88,000 grant from Cross International to help build 25 homes for families in Nicaragua.

Restaurant
Fedora Social House named Brian Wendelman as general manager. Previously, Wendelman worked as a bar trainer for Houlihan’s in Springfield, and was a bar manager at Trolley’s.

Real Estate
Susan Russo joined Titan Title & Closing LLC as a closing specialist. Russo has worked for more than 20 years in the title industry.

Sales
Taylor Martin Group added three staff members and promoted Bobbi Rice to interior designer at Obelisk Home. She worked previously as Obelisk Home’s store manager.

Eric Hodel was named national sales manager for Unleashed Life, bringing with him eight years of sales experience.

Nicole Fuller was named merchandising manager. She worked previously for 417 Magazine for five years as a style coordinator and freelance stylist.

Gabe Jackson was named manager of Obelisk Home. Jackson previously managed Staxx Apparel and Bulldog Drummond in San Diego.

Travel
Linda Overend and Linda Baker of The Travel Group attended Virtuoso’s Travel Mart in Las Vegas. The conference attracted roughly 3,700 travel agents and executives from 90 countries.[[In-content Ad]]
