The Springfield News-Leader's printing press is scheduled to close down after Sunday night.
News-Leader columnist Steve Pokin says goodbye to the $23 million investment in an article published yesterday.
The closure comes after News-Leader owner Gannett Co. Inc. was purchased by GateHouse Media Inc. for $1.1 billion. Officials announced in February the Springfield printing operations would be moving to Columbia after the production of the local paper’s March 30 edition.
