Info 2004, the official news agency of the Summer Olympic games, is now fully functional and is providing information in English, French and Greek. According to a news release from www.athens2004.com, the official Web site of the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Info 2004 is accessible via computers installed in Olympic areas to enable accredited individuals to access up-to-date and reliable information about the games.
The system's main menu categories include competition results, news, athletes' biographical data, background, medals, schedules, records, transport, weather and e-mail. Information is collected and published on Info 2004 by the 250-member team of the Olympic News Services, whose ranks include specialized sports editors. The latter are in charge of technical analysis, previews and reviews of all competitions.
The system already includes historical, technical and statistical information on each sport; venue descriptions; Olympic history; the main competition results of the last Olympic cycle (2000-2004); a detailed presentation of the Greek participants in the games; and bios of athletes, coaches, referees, and horses (for equestrian).
