Newell Brands spending $570M on two acquisitions

Newell Brands Inc. today announced two acquisitions worth a combined $570 million.

The largest is $470 million to buy New Zealand's Sistema, a provider of food storage containers.

Newell also will purchase home fragrance company Smith Mountain Industries, which owns the WoodWick Candle brand, for $100 million.
