New York launches student loan forgiveness program

It just became easier for college graduates in New York.

The state launched its Get on Your Feet initiative, which offers two years of payments on a student loan.

The program is available to students who earned an undergraduate degree from a college in New York state in December 2014 or later. They also must have an adjusted gross income of less than $50,000 and be participating in a federal income-based repayment plan or a pay-as-you-earn plan.

Further, applicants must live in New York.
