Former Kansas City attorney Michael Barrera is returning home to take a leadership post for the Small Business Administration.
Barrera was tapped to lead the SBA's Kansas City district office, which has a branch office in Springfield.
He succeeds Jon Malcolm Richards, who was named district director for the North Florida SBA office, where Barrera most recently worked.
