The Joplin Board of Education approved a new superintendent after Melinda Moss announced her retirement.
Moss is retiring after 30 years as an educator and five years as Joplin's superintendent.
Kerry Sachetta, assistant superintendent for operations, was voted in as the new superintendent, effective July 1.
