New Illinois laws to raise gas and cigarette taxes

Effective today, Illinois residents under the age of 21 will not be able to purchase tobacco products. Lawmakers had approved the new legal age, up from 18, along with a few other states this year, according to The Associated Press. Also, Illinois is taxing cigarette sales an additional dollar per pack, and doubling its fuel tax to 38 cents.
