AT&T Cable Services' new general manager's management philosophy is simple.
"I believe to succeed, you need to do what you say you're going to do, when you say you're going to do it," Suzy Winger said. "Adhering to this philosophy creates satisfaction among employees which equals customer satisfaction."
Winger Sept. 22 began as the general manager of the Springfield operation of AT&T Cable Services. She replaced Ross Summers, who earlier resigned as general manager. Winger formerly served as the customer operations manager of AT&T Cable Services in Carpentersville, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, where she helped oversee the launch of the digital product and @Home.
She joined TCI, which became AT&T Cable Services earlier this year, in 1991 as an installer. Winger worked her way up through the company, becoming a technician, then a technical operations manager before becoming a customer operations manager in northern Nevada.
Winger said the acquisition of TCI by AT&T has been a positive change for both employees and customers.
"The name alone provides recognition of good customer service. In order for the merger to be completed, the company made a lot of internal changes as far as the customer service philosophy went. It's now kind of like, stand up and take notice
