A new gene therapy is the most expensive medicine in the world, according to a report by CNN.

Orchard Therapeutics produces Lenmeldy, which has a wholesale price of $4.25 million.

Lenmeldy, designed to treat the fatal genetic disorder metachromatic leukodystrophy, or MLD, was approved by the Food and Drug Administration on Monday.
