New Environmental Protection Agency leader Lee Zeldin has pledged support for cleanup of a radioactive site in the St. Louis area, a priority of U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri.
The Westlake Landfill site in Bridgeton reportedly has nuclear contamination.
“I look forward to visiting your home state and the West Lake Landfill site specifically," Zeldin wrote to Hawley. "I commit to making this a priority, keeping in mind that residents in the area have waited years for remedial actions to ensue."
Zeldin was confirmed as EPA head on Wednesday by the U.S. Senate.
