Using a portion of a million-dollar enhancement grant from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, OTC bought a 2006 Western Star from Jenkins Diesel on July 31.
“The truck will be used for body and engine work, preventative maintenance and other training,” said Glenn Marcum, OTC diesel technology instructor, in a news release. “We’re excited to have this new equipment to keep our program on the cutting edge.”
Marcum arranged the truck’s purchase; the grant was written and submitted by Shirley Lawler, vice president of academic affairs and work force development at OTC.
“The DESE enhancement grant provides most of the equipment for all technical programs in the state,” Lawler said in the release.
