A new bookstore is coming to a historic Walnut Street space that housed the recently shuttered Pagination Bookshop LLC.
The Story House Bookstore LLC, a venture from siblings Michael Bruner and Penny Scroggs, intends to open this month at the 1150 E. Walnut St. property, a 1905-built residence, according to a Nov. 12 Facebook announcement. Pagination’s last day in business was Nov. 6.
"We are reopening the bookstore by mid-November ... to make the transition to The Story House as smooth and joyful as possible for the holiday season and into the new year," the post reads. "As you'll see, we’ll begin rolling out our vision for The Story House over the next few months, celebrating it with you fully at the grand opening in spring. Just know that our goal is simple: to sustain a welcoming, vibrant, creative home for readers, visual/media artists and storytellers – a place to gather for events, workshops and community, surrounded by the books and art that connect us all."
The post indicates Arthur Marx, grandson of late Springfield artist Pinky Marx, is the new building owner.
Pagination Bookshop owner Jen Murvin in September announced the residence housing the bookstore had been put on the market with an asking price of $499,900, according to past reporting. Murvin indicated at the time that Pagination would close after a buyer for the real estate was secured.
