Netflix in talks to enter China's booming online video market

Video streaming company Netflix is in talks with Jack Ma-backed Wasu Media Holding and other potential partners to enter China’s booming online video market, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

Asked about a possible partnership in China, Netflix spokeswoman Anne Marie said Netflix plans “to be nearly global by the end of 2016."

Entertaing China would allow Netflix to broadcast “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” in an exploding market of online TV in the nation of 1.4 billion people. The market is expected to almost triple to 90 billion yuan by 2018, according to Shanghai-based Internet consultant IResearch.
