Neosho-based Opal Foods is donating 151,200 eggs at Ozarks Food Harvests’ Springfield headquarters.
Scheduled to be presented at 9:30 a.m. March 31 at the 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave. food bank, the 12,600-dozen cartons will help food-insecure families in Ozarks Food Harvests’ 28-county service area, according to a news release.
“Fresh eggs are a prized item for Ozarks Food Harvest due to their dense nutritional and high protein content, but they are also one of the hardest food categories for food banks to acquire,” nonprofit officials wrote in the release.
Last year, Moark LLC, the egg subsidiary of Arden Hills, Minn.-based agricultural cooperative Land O'Lakes, donated over 151,000 eggs to Ozarks Food Harvest around the Easter holiday.
In May, Opal Foods purchased Moark’s Midwest egg production assets for an undisclosed amount.
At the time, the Neosho entity, created by private equity firm AGR Partners in association with Rose Acre Farms and Weaver Brothers, expected annual revenue to hit $200 million with operations in Missouri and Colorado, as well as a cage-free farm in Neosho. Opal Foods is a franchisee of Eggland’s Best, according to a separate release.[[In-content Ad]]
