Ned Reynolds named Mo. Sports Hall of Fame Legend

Posted online
The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame will present iconic TV sports broadcaster Ned Reynolds with its 2014 Legend award.

A staple of the KY3 sports department for nearly five decades, Reynolds’ last day as sports director for the station was yesterday. He’s set to continue doing play-by-play announcing for Springfield Cardinals games on KY3 and The Ozarks CW, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

With the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Legend award, Reynolds joins the likes of Ozzie Smith, George Brett and Len Dawson. Legend recipients are honored with bronze statues outside the organization’s museum, 3861 E. Stan Musial Drive, according to a news release.

Reynolds will be presented the award during the Jan. 25 Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremonies at the downtown University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center.

According to the release, Reynolds’ 47-year run at KY3 is the longest consecutive tenure at the the same station in Missouri broadcasting history.

“Along the way, Reynolds has become the most recognizable face of sports television in the Ozarks and (arguably) in the state of Missouri,” the release states.[[In-content Ad]]
