Nearly 200 students sue Wright Career College

Posted online
A gaggle of former and current students of Overland Park, Kan.-based Wright Career College have collectively filed suit against the school, accusing it of fraud and misrepresentation.

Four former students originally filed the lawsuit in Jackson County Circuit Court about a year ago against Mission Group Kansas Inc., the nonprofit that does business as Wright Career College across five campuses: Overland Park; Wichita, Kan.; Oklahoma City; Tulsa, Okla.; and Omaha, Neb.

The case has since been amended to include 195 current and former students. The lawsuit claims Wright Career College enticed prospective students to enroll and apply for loans they couldn’t pay back through a deceptive marketing scheme. In addition, the filing states the college deceived students about the true cost of attending, the value of the school’s accreditation and the quality of its academic programs, according to the Kansas City Star.

Mission Group Kansas denies the claims in the case.
