NBA's Houston Rockets sold for record $2.2B

Restaurant and casino owner Tilman Fertitta reportedly agreed to buy the Houston Rockets from Leslie Alexander for $2.2 billion.

If approved by the NBA Board of Governors, that would be the largest sum ever spent on a professional basketball team. The biggest deal to date was Steve Ballmer’s $2 billion purchase of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014.

Alexander has owned the team since 1993. He bought it for $85 million.
