The NBA Board of Governors on Friday formally approved an ownership change for the Utah Jazz.
Billionaire Ryan Smith, co-founder of Utah-based technology firm Qualtrics, previously agreed to buy the team for $1.7 billion.
The deal includes a clause that the Jazz must remain in Utah.
