Natural gas filling stations sprout up in KC

Posted online
Five publicly available compressed natural gas stations are to open in the Kansas City area, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

All the stations are owned and operated by Newport Beach, Calif.-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp.

"The retooling of the Ford factory is really what attracted Clean Energy to the area," Scott Vazzana, central region business development manager for Clean Energy Fuels Corp., told the Kansas City Business Journal.

Midway Ford has agreed to let Clean Energy build a natural gas station on its campus.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has about 500 compressed natural gas stations across the country.
